In Reply To Does the Permacool 16" work well for you? (n/m) posted by TwinTurboPete on September 05, 2003 at 12:42 AM

Message So far the Permacool has done great regardless of outside temp up to the 90 degrees that I have been able to test it in - and that is on an otherwise stock cooling system. In city driving, highway cruising, heavy boosting runs up to 150mph, and idling it does great, but when I turn on the AC it start to get a bit hot. The gauge will climb a bit and stay up there so I shut the AC down each time. This weekend I'm going to do the diagnostics FAQ on the stock AC pusher fan to see if it is even kicking on when the temp gets up there with the AC running. I'm pretty sure it's not even working, but I won't know for sure until this weekend. However, if I find that the AC fan does work properly then I'm going to install the DaviesCraig 16"(the Z1 Motorsports fan) in place of the Permacool 16" and see if that makes any difference. I chatted with somebody at Z1 last week about it and he said they have over 20 customers running around with that fan in the southern heat with no problems with the AC on. We'll see.... I'll let everyone know what happens, even if I do end up having to get the Koyo radiator and Billion thermostat in there just to be able to keep this electric fan on my car!
